Maharshi Bhrugurushi and Holy River Narmada

Holy River Narmada - originating and spreading from central India through western arteries in length and breadth. The River at whose banks thousands of saints and saintly devotees have spent times appreciating her holiness and praying the almighty.

Maharshi Bhrugurushi, the creation of Lord Brahma, settled and spent years at this Holy River meditating. The largest gathering of yogis and rushis took place at the banks of River Narmada chanting shlokas and creating an atmosphere of holiness and divinity. Even the 54th "bethak" and meditation of Shri Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharyaji had been at the banks of River Narmada at Bharuch.

Christened after the holy name of Maharshi Bhrugurushi, the town had its earlier name as Bhrugukachh; then came to be known as Bhrugupur; thenafter as Broach in the British regime and now as Bharuch.

Inauguration ! [Bhumi Puja for Bhrugurushi Temple renovation project - Nov 7, 2004, Bharuch]

The Indian Planetary Society joins hands with Shree Bhargav Samastha Panch Trust for creation of " Maharshi Bhrugurushi Centre for Vedic and Cosmic Science Research " at our Bhrugurushi Temple at Bharuch.

We have already created a "meditation and spiritual retreat " area, a fine " cosmic science picture gallery " and school children's science models room.

Seen are pictures of the event; Dr.J.J.Rawal, President of The Indian Planetary Society is seen performing Bhumi Puja while Shri Paragji bapuji. Freedom Fighter, is seen at lamp lighting moments.Mrs.Ami(Jokhakar) Bansal spoke on" spirituality and inner voice experiences ", while Dr.Ajit I. Desai gave an overview of the project.

Also seen in the picture are Shri Prafulbhai Thakore, our President , Shri Ambrish J. Desai and Shri Janak M. Vakil explaining the project drawings to Dr.Rawal.

Seven scholars of the District of Bharuch were honoured as " Research Fellows " of this Centre of Excellence -- Pushpaben Patel (Education), Dr.Narottambhai Valand and Prof. Harshadbhai Trivedi (History of Bharuch District), Dr.Piyushbhai Parikh and Vaikunthbhai Bhagat (Gita Gyan studies) , Dr.P.T.Dave (Vedic studies) and Kamleshbhai Udani (Philanthropic Entrepreneur of the District of Bharuch).
